Fun, Fast and Inclusive Cricket for Kids Aged 5–10

Welcome to Woolworths Cricket Blast – the perfect starting point for young cricketers looking to have fun, make friends, and build confidence while learning the game we love.

  • What is Cricket Blast?

    Cricket Blast is a national entry-level program run by Cricket Australia and supported locally by Highfields & Districts Railway Bulldogs Cricket Club. It’s designed for boys and girls aged 5 to 10 who are new to cricket or just starting out.

    Cricket Blast is a skills-based program where kids learn the basics of batting, bowling, catching and teamwork in a fun, non-competitive setting.

    Our modified cricket games introduce participants to a team environment, to get them ready for real match scenarios and while focusing on applying the skills learned.

    Highfields Cricket Blast sessions are non-contact and designed to ensure every child is active, engaged and smiling.

  • What to Expect

    Weekly 60-minute sessions packed with action

    Fun drills and small-group activities

    Games with plastic bats, balls, and stumps

    Friendly, trained volunteers and coaches

    Music, energy and a welcoming family atmosphere

    A safe, supportive environment for all abilities

    No prior experience is needed – just a willingness to give it a go and have fun.

  • What’s Included

    Each child who registers for the program receives a Cricket Blast pack, which may include:

    Personalised t-shirt with your child’s name

    Plastic bat and rubber ball (first-time participants)

    Bucket hat in team colour

    Access to the official Blast learning app and games

    Note: Inclusions may vary slightly each season based on Cricket Australia’s national kits.

    Location: Highfields Sports Park
    Day & Time: Thursday from 4:30pm - 5:30pm
    Season Runs: 16th Oct - 20th Nov
    Cost: $89 - includes a Cricket Blast Pack (includes plastic bat, shirt, hat)
